IND vs AUS: Australian skipper Pat Cummins returns to Australia owing to serious family illness
Pat Cummins is expected to be back in India for the 3rd and 4th Tests in Indore and Ahmedabad respectively.
IND vs AUS: In a major development in the ongoing Border Gavaskar Trophy, Australia captain Pat Cummins is headed back to his home after Australia's 6-wicket loss to India. Cummins will travel to Sydney due to serious medical issues in his family. The right-arm quick is however not expected to miss the third Test against India in Indore.
Cummins, who leads Australia in Tests and ODIs, is expected to be back in India for the preparations ahead of the third Test on March 1. Australia also have Steve Smith as their vice-captain, who might lead them if needed. Aussies also have fast bowling covers in the form of Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood, who are racing to be fit for the third test, along with Scott Boland and Lance Morris.
Cummins was the sole quick in Australia's embarrassing loss to India in Delhi and was also disappointed with his team's performance. “I thought they (India) bowled really well. It’s not easy out there, but perhaps some guys went away from their methods. Each batter has its own way to go about it. I don't think there's any one size fits all rule. Unfortunately, quite a few of us got out with kind of cross-batted shots which might not be our preferred method."
The Indian Cricket team's magic in Delhi remains unhindered as Rohit Sharma's men defeated Pat Cummins led Australia by 6 wickets in the second Test. The Indian spinners starred in the first session of Day 3 as Ravindra Jadeja took a seven-wicket haul. This was followed by the batters' show at the Arun Jaitley Stadium as India chased the 115-run target to take a 2-0 lead in the four-match series.
The Indian team is hugely dominant in the national capital Delhi. For 75 years, teams have found it way too difficult to defeat India in Delhi. They are unbeaten at this venue since 1987 and have lost only 6 matches here. Meanwhile, Australia have defeated India here only one time in 1959
