ICC rankings: India's star cricketers Ravichandran Ashwin and Shreyas Iyer have been rewarded in the latest released ICC Players' rankings after a thumping series whitewash over Bangladesh. The Indian team defeated Shakib Al Hasan's men in both outings as the home side drew a blank. For their match-winning knocks in the second Test in Dhaka, both Ashwin and Iyer have made gains in the Test rankings.
Spin bowler Ashwin has moved one place up in the bowling charts to take joint fourth with compatriot Jasprit Bumrah in the Test bowling charts, while he has consolidated his second spot in the all-rounders' list and has moved close to Ravindra Jadeja in the fight for the pinnacle spot. Meanwhile, Iyer rose to a career-best rating and has scaled up 10 places to reach 16th in the Test batter's list.
Ashwin, who scalped 6 wickets in the second match, now has 812 rating points, equal to that of Bumrah. While his unbeaten 42 in the second innings took him to 343 rating points in the all-rounders' list, 26 points away from Jadeja. Iyer's 87 in the first innings and a crucial 29* in the second innings, took him to 666 rating points. Also, Umesh Yadav rose in the bowlers' and the all-rounders' list after scalping five wickets during the final test. He moved 5 places up to reach 33rd in the bowler's chart, while he moved to 48th, jumping three spots.
Notably, Bangladesh players have also made gains in the Test rankings. Litton Das rose two spots in the batter's list after scoring a 73 in the second innings of the Dhaka Test. He is now 12th in the world with 702 ratings. Spin bowler Taijul Islam jumped two places in the bowlers' chart to reach 28th after taking four wickets in the first innings. He has 593 ratings.
