Mumbai Indians owner Nita Ambani has praised suspended IPL commissioner Lalit Modi and in an interview has said that she felt sorry for him.

In a talk show over a news channel, Nita Ambani marveled at Lalit Modi's energy and said that he worked untingly for the Indian Premier League. “I used to wonder I have to go from Bombay to Mohali, then to Chennai. Which side of the bed should I get out on and Lalit would be moving everywhere, up and down all the time. I used to wonder how on Earth is he doing this? You know this constantly being on the move, constantly wanting to get things done”.

Asked whether Lalit could have handled it differently, Nita Ambani said: “Everybody has their own personality and in retrospect people may say this or that. Everybody has a different personality so who am I to enforce a personality on anyone. I must say that I have enjoyed thoroughly these two year in IPL”.

Asked whether IPL could survive Lalit Modi's departure, she said: “You know what I tell my school - that the school is beyond me, it is a timeless institution”.  About IPL becoming a timeless institution, Nita Ambani said: “Time will tell but I think Lalit did tremendously for the IPL”.

Asked point blank  whether she felt sorry for him, Nita Ambani said: “Yes, I do.”

Queried about whether she had any bad experience in IPL, Nita  said “Not at all”.  She however said  she was once upset when she wasn't allowed to sit in the dug-out with her team. “I am too much of a team member to be separated from my team.”
