Bangalore, April 3 : Cricket maestro Sachin Tendulkar said today that he was not the God of cricket.
Addressing a private function in ITC Gardenia Hotel here, Tendulkar said : "I am not the god of cricket. I make mistakes. God doesn't make mistakes. I had two role models - Sunil Gavaskar and Vivian Richards."
"When I grew up, I liked Viv Richards style of play. I always though I should be a combination of both".
On his 100th century, Tendulkar said: "When i scored my hundredth hundred , I didn't jump in joy. My first question was to God, why did it take so long, where did I went wrong since I practise hard."
On his school days, the great batsman said: "In school, I wanted to remain away from studies and I began playing cricket. Later on, cricket became my passion. cricket gave me sleepless nights. I love cricket very much. "
"If at all I had not played cricket, I would have played tennis. I love tennis", said Tendulkar.
Asked about his best moment in cricket, Tendulkar said: "Wearing the Indian jersey and cap was my best moment. The journey in cricket was incredible. I went to Pakistan. I was so happy and excited. Walking to play cricket in Karachi for the first time at number 6. Waqar and Wasim were bowling. I scored 50. That was exciting because I was facing world class bowling. I was clueless.
"When I was out I went to the dressing room and was almost in tears", reminisced Tendulkar.
"I wonder how did i survive for so long in my first match against Pakistan", he said.
