A rattled Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) has finally responded to reports that it could be stripped of the 4th Test against South Africa beginning on December 3.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today named a two-member panel to probe the DDCA's alleged financial irregularities.

The DDCA was handed a 24-hour deadline to pay a massive entertainment tax of Rs 24 crore, failing which the Test would be moved to Pune.

Now the DDCA's hopes rest on the BCCI, which is expected to offer a grant which would help it meet the stiff deadline.

Former Test cricketer and Vice President of the DDCA, Chetan Chauhan took a conciliatory stance and said that the Delhi government's approach was positive.

He added that the DDCA is taking action in response to the complaints received.

Chauhan also expressed his total confidence that the Test would go ahead in Delhi according to schedule.

Ravinder Manchanda, DDCA Treasurer, said "We were exempted from entertainment tax. This tax they say is also applicable on signages. This is a legal issue."

With time running out, the DDCA will have to act fast to ensure that cricket fans in Delhi are not left high and dry.
