LONDON : The captain of England's women's team has become only the second female to be included among Wisden's Five Cricketers of the Year, an annual award by the world's most prestigious cricket publication.
Charlotte Edwards was joined on the 2013 list by Australia players Ryan Harris and Chris Rogers, India opener Shikhar Dhawan and England batsman Joe Root.
Edwards' compatriot, Claire Taylor, was the first woman to be given the honor in the Wisden Cricketers' Almanack in 2009. Edwards led England to back-to-back Ashes victories over Australia home and away in a six-month span.
Wisden's selection criteria are based on players' performances during the English summer season. Being one of the five Cricketers of the Year is the oldest individual honor in cricket.
