Nottingham, Jun 25: England Alex Hales smashed 99 to lead England to 173-3 and a seven-wicket victory over West Indies at Trent Bridge Sunday, completing its highest successful run chase in a Twenty20 match.
Hales fell just short of his century but his aggressive knock off 68 balls was still the highest score by an England batsman in a T20 match.
His stand of 159 with Ravi Bopara in the one-off match set another England record in the shortest form of the game.
West Indies won the toss and opted to bat first with opener Dwayne Smith helping to set the tone for the tourists with his 70 from 54 balls before falling to Craig Kieswetter in the 16th over.
Dwayne Bravo (54 not out) and Kieron Pollard's unbeaten 23 completed the West Indies innings and a challenging target of 172.
