The doors opened a bit for CSK getting both the set batters Jonny Bairstow and Rilee Rossouw in quick succession but Sam Curran and Shashank Singh shut the door down since the required rate wasn't much and they cruised their side towards the target.

Shardul Thakur gets his only second wicket of the season as he castles out dangerous Rilee Rossouw.

Rossouw scored 43 off 23 balls.

Shivam Dube strikes on his very second delivery of the season to dismiss settled Jonny Bairstow. A big breakthrough for the hosts but Punjab remain ahead in the chase.

Jonny Bairstow and Rilee Rossouw have ended the powerplay on a high for the Punjab Kings scoring a few boundaries in the last couple of overs from Gleeson and Shardul Thakur.

The bat turned in Prabhsimran Singh's hand as he tried to hit over the cover fielder but Richard Gleeson's accurate line and length accounted for his wicket as the 36-year-old has opened his account on IPL debut for CSK.

Arshdeep Singh did give away a four and a six in the last over in front of MS Dhoni but he did execute his plans bowling wide from his arc, a bouncer and eventually got him run out on the final ball of the innings. CSK have gotten to 162, which isn't high and Punjab Kings will back themselves to chase it down.

Just three runs and a wicket of Moeen Ali, Sam Curran took the gutsy call of bowling a leggie in the 19th over against MS Dhoni and it paid off as he didn't let the CSK batters get loose and took one wicket.

Ravindra Jadeja never looked comfortable against the spinners and has gotten out. Rahul Chahar gets his first as Punjab Kings spinners are dominating the proceedings and CSK have dug a hole for themselves losing both the reviews and their left-handers.

A myth-busting wicket for Harpreet Brar and Punjab Kings that left-arm spinners can't bowl to left-handed batters. Brar bowled slow in the air and Dube was early on the sweep and has been trapped LBW in the front. Punjab Kings has a huge wicket, could be a match-changer from Brar, who has now two wickets in the same over.

Harpreet Brar has struck immediately after the powerplay to get trid of Ajinkya Rahane as Punjab Kings get the first one. The pressure was building and Rahane has holed out to deep mid-wicket and CSK lose their first one in the ninth over. 

After a slow start in the first four overs, CSK openers Ajinkya Rahane and Ruturaj Gaikwad have kicked on in the last two overs getting 32 off them to finish with 55 runs in the powerplay without losing a wicket. Punjab Kings need wickets.

CSK might use an extra bowler in Mukesh or Simarjeet later in the match. If there is a collapse, then Sameer Rizvi might come in later in the innings to bat.

Punjab Kings have won the toss and opted to field first as Sam Curran continues to lead the side with still no Shikhar Dhawan. Curran said that the dew is expected and they won their last game chasing so continued with the trend.

63m and 70m square boundaries are big compared to the 58-63m boundaries in all other venues and 77m straight which means the batters will need to time their hits well. A new red soil surface has been laid for the Wednesday clash with the ball expected to seam and bounce. The spinners might get assistance later on, however, there will be dew and the match is expected to be a high-scoring one.

CSK may have lost just one game at home so far but they also have played five at Chepauk while overall defeats are four. That suggests that the Men in Yellow too have not been consistent and having lost three and won three in their last six games, the hosts will aim for some consistency as they play Punjab in back-to-back games.

Shikhar Dhawan, the regular PBKS skipper, is expected to return for his side after missing four matches due to a shoulder injury he sustained in the game against the Sunrisers Hyderabad. Dhawan's return will mean a few changes for the Punjab Kings.
