New Delhi: Rangana Herath will not be taking  part in the Champions League Twenty20 as he was not part of the Kandurata squad in the Super Fours domestic tournament, the Champions League technical committee has ruled.

Herath was included in  Kandurata Maroons as a replacement to Injured Dhammika Prasad but according to SLC statement  the Technical Committee of CLT 20, has rejected the request because it was not convinced that Rangana Herath was in the original squad of the Kandurata Maroons.

"Sri Lanka Cricket wishes to announce that Rangana Herath's inclusion as has been rejected an SLC statement said.

Herath did not play for any of the teams during the Super Fours tournament, but in an SLC release on August 8, he had been named in the Uthura Yellows squad. He was not part of Kandurata's original 15 to travel to India, but had been a last-minute inclusion after fast bowler Dhammika Prasad picked up an injury.

Kandurata are yet to name an official replacement for Prasad. The team lost their first match in the tournament qualifiers by eight wickets.
