KKR vs CSK: Chennai Super Kings jump on top of points table as they beat Kolkata Knight Riders by 49 runs

Chennai batters seemed unstoppable as they registered a target of 236 runs. In response, KKR managed to score just 186 runs, losing 8 wickets.

Chennai Super Kings registered a massive win as they thrashed Kolkata Knight Riders in the 33rd match of IPL 2023 on Sunday. In the match which was played at KKR's home ground Eden Gardens, CSK won by 49 runs. Kolkata won toss and opted to bowl. Coming to bat first, Chennai batters seemed unstoppable as they registered a target of 236 runs. In response, KKR managed to score just 186 runs, losing 8 wickets.

With the win, Team CSK jumped straight on the top of the points table as they gained another two points. Chennai have now won three matches on a trot. They have won 5 matches out of 7 games played and have 10 points with NRR of 0.664. They have surpassed Lucknow Super Giants and Rajasthan Royals to climb to places. Currently, no other team has got 10 points in this season.

KKR did not have a good start as Sunil Narine could not even open his account. After this, Narayan Jagdeesan got out after scoring 1 run. Venkatesh Iyer tried to stabilize the innings but got dismissed after scoring 20 runs. Captain Nitish Rana also could not play a big innings and got out after scoring 27 runs. After the dismissal of Nitish Rana, Jason Roy, and Rinku Singh raised hopes of victory for KKR fans and smashed boundaries. However, Roy scored 61 runs and went back to the hut. On the other hand, Rinku remained unbeaten with 53 runs. Andre Russell got out after scoring 9 runs and Umesh Yadav scored four runs.

The bowlers bowled very tightly for CSK. Tushar Deshpande and Maheesh Theekshana took 2 wickets each. Apart from this, Akash Singh, Moeen Ali, Ravindra Jadeja, and Mateesha Pathirana got 1 wicket each. 

Against Kolkata Knight Riders, the Chennai Super Kings batters made a strong start. Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway gave played impressive innings. Gaikwad played an innings of 35 runs and Conway scored 56 runs. On the other hand, Ajinkya Rahane played scored 71 runs. Shivam Dube scored 50 runs off 21 balls, hitting 2 fours and 5 sixes. Ravindra Jadeja contributed 18 runs. 

Kulwant Khejroliya got 2 wickets for KKR. Suyash Sharma and Varun Chakraborty 1 wicket each.
