Nadiad: Santram housing society located in sleepy Nadiad town in Kheda district of Gujarat became venue of joyful celebrations with fans and friends of left-arm spinner Axar Patel, who was named in 2015 World Cup squad Tuesday, bursting crackers and exchanging sweets.
Besides Axar's relatives, many locals gathered outside his home in the society located in Kumbhnath Road area.
Elated with joy, Axar's father Rajeshbhai Patel, a retired mill-worker, said, "I am confident that Axar will play his best game for the country's pride. I wish that Indian team will win the world cup and I hope my son Axar will become 'Man of the series'."
Axar's mother Pritiben said, "Axar was very happy when I told him that he will be the part of Team India in World Cup and I know he will perform his best."
Axar's coach Vishwajeetsinh Solanki said it was a great news.
"I will tell him that he will have to work hard, harder so that he can contribute well in World Cup," Solanki said.
A group of Axar's supporters gifted an eight-feet-long bat to his family.
