New Delhi: Former Indian opening batsman Virender Sehwag today said he would gift a Ferrari to either of his two sons who manages to break his record of 319 runs in test cricket. Sehwag was speaking to Harsha Bhogle after being felicitated by the BCCI on Day 1 of the final Test between India and South Africa.

Sehwag said he would be more than happy if his sons were able to break the record in any form of cricket.

The score of 319 runs is the highest individual score by an Indian batsman in tests. Sehwag also said that there was an opportunity for him to break the world record of Brian Lara (400* vs England).

Sehwag said he felt he was close to the world record in 2008 after he scored 309 on the first day of the test match against South Africa. However, he was dismissed at 319 on the second day.

Sehwag was modest in saying that he was lucky enough to score 300 runs not once but twice since a lot of catches were dropped during those innings. He was accompanied by his mother Krishna, wife Aarti and two sons on this proud occasion.

While DDCA is yet to name a stand or gallery after the firebrand batsman, the BCCI has temporarily named the far-end stand at the Ambedkar Stadium as “Viru 319” after the batsman's highest Test score.
