New Delhi: BCCI Working Committee will meet today at 2 PM in Chennai to discuss the Mudgal report on IPL fixing scandal. Decisions will also be taken to finalize the new date for its upcoming Annual General Meeting as earlier scheduled meeting on November 20 was cancelled.
The BCCI working Committee is expected to discuss the names that appeared in the Justice Mukul Mudgal panel report before apex court of India.
Another key issue that will be discussed is the case of Sunder Raman, IPL's chief operation officer (COO), who has been named in the Mudgal report for having been in touch with a contact of a bookie during the first season.
The Mudgal report has also observed that Srinivasan's son-in-law, Gurunath Meiyappan, was not just an 'cricket enthusiast', but was an integral part of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) franchise.
N. Srinivasn, BCCI President-in-exile will be attending the meeting as the president of (TNCA) Tamil Nadu Cricket Association.
Earlier, Mudgal report had given clean-chit to N. Srinivasan which increases the chances for him to contest for the presidential post.
Despite the presence of most BCCI members, the likelihood of dissent against Srinivasan is expected to be remote. Sharad Pawar, the Mumbai Cricket Association president, and Shashank Manohar, the former BCCI president - two of Srinivasan's most vocal and influential critics - will not be attending the meeting and it is unlikely that the other members will try and question the current regime.
However, the official announcement will only come after the next Supreme Court hearing on November 24.
