Indian cricket board (BCCI) took to social media to reveal the new jersey of the Indian team ahead of the T20 World Cup. An all-star line-up of Indian cricket team Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja and Jasprit Bumrah were seen flaunting the new kit.

However, it is understood, the newly launched jersey is not for the upcoming World Cup and will be revealed later. Toeing in line with the ICC rules, the World Cup jersey will be without the official sponsor 'Byju's' logo on it.

The new kit has been named the ‘Billion Cheers Jersey’, as per the post by BCCI. The new kit will replace the 1992 World Cup pattern jersey that the Indian cricket team donned during their Australia tour. MPL Sports, who are official kit sponsors of the team, has opted for shades of Prussian blue and royal blue for the shirt.

"Presenting the Billion Cheers Jersey! The patterns on the jersey are inspired by the billion cheers of the fans," the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) tweeted as the board shared the picture on social media.

Meanwhile, few fans have shared photos of the World Cup jersey but Indiatvnews.com can't confirm the authenticity of the photos shared. An official confirmation on the same is awaited.

As per MPL Sports, the new shirt has been inspired by fans.

"This is the first time in the history of Indian cricket that fans have been memorialised on a jersey. It carries their chants and cheers from iconic past matches, transformed into unique soundwave patterns," stated a release from MPL Sports.

BCCI president Sourav Ganguly said, "The Indian cricket team enjoys support not just in India but around the world, and there's no better way to celebrate their excitement and energy than through this jersey.

"This will undoubtedly provide the team with the much-needed enthusiastic support in their quest to emerge as the T20 champions of the world.
We are also pleased to see that MPL Sports continues to deliver merchandise that is widely affordable and accessible."
The board's secretary Jay Shah echoed the view.

"The story behind the jersey is a story of every Indian cricket fan. We are sure that wearing this will be a matter of great pride for both the team and supporters alike," Shah said.
