KHULNA, Bangladesh: Bangladesh captain Mushfiqur Rahim won the toss and elected to bat first in the opening test against Pakistan at Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium on Tuesday.
Pace bowling allrounder Soumya Sarkar, who impressive selectors in the limited-overs series, was handed his test debut for Bangladesh along with fast bowling newcomer Mohammad Shahid.
Sami Aslam makes his test debut for Pakistan, while offspinner Saeed Ajmal was omitted after failing to make an impact in his return to the international cricket after remodeling his bowling action.
Bangladesh dominated Pakistan in the three-match one-day series, completing a 3-0 whitewash. It also won the Twenty20 international.
Bangladesh is yet to beat Pakistan in a test match after playing eight matches.
