Galle, Sri Lanka, Mar 10: On Day 3 of the first Test against Sri Lanka, Bangladesh batsman Mohammad Ashraful on Sunday hit an unbeaten 189, the highest by a Bangladeshi in Test matches.
Ashraful was given company by Mushfiqur Rahim who smashed 152 not out. The 261-run unbroken stand is Bangladeh's highest for any wicket in Test matches.
Bangladesh made 438 for 4 in their first innings at close in reply to Sri Lanka's 570 for 4. Ashraful hit one six and 20 fours in his sixth Test century and the fifth against Sri Lanka.
Rahim hit one six and 18 fours in his second Test century.
Bangladesh also crossed their previous highest total of 413 runs against Sri Lanka in Tests, and avoided the follow-on in the final session.
