Brisbane, Australia: Matt Prior could play in the first Ashes test for England after completing wicketkeeping, running and batting drills Tuesday without any apparent issues with his injured left calf.

Prior had strapping tape over the calf he injured during England's warm-up match against Australia A in Hobart two weeks ago. He faced off spinner Graeme Swann at the Gabba nets and ran between the wickets at various points in his net session to test his calf.

Prior gave coach Andy Flower a thumbs-up as he walked away, indicating he felt fit enough to play in the Brisbane test beginning Thursday
