In a superb batting display, Karnataka youngster Karun Nair struck his maiden triple ton to take India past 750 runs on the fourth day of the fifth and final cricket Test match at the MA Chidambaram stadium in Chennai on Monday.
But, something interesting to know here is that the 25-year-old batted with a broken bat to reach this milestone.
The incident happened when Nair was batting at 105 runs and edged a Ben Stokes delivery to loop over second slip for four. That delivery had left Nair’s bat a bit broken from the top edge. The batsman, however, kept on batting with the broken bat.

Nair’s 303 (not out)-run knock also helped India to pass their highest ever Test score of 726 runs.
Nair, who is playing only his third Test match, smashed England all around the park. Nair faced 380 balls in his innings and punished the rival bowlers with 31 fours and four sixes.
Following this course, Nair became the second Indian batsman to score the triple ton after Virender Sehwag.
Sehwag scored his first triple ton against Pakistan in Multan in 2004. He played the knock of 309 runs.
In 2008, Sehwag once again showed his class and got on to score another triple ton against South Africa in Chennai. He scored 319 runs.
The Karnataka boy also became the first ever batsman to hit a triple ton in his first Test series. Also, he is only the third Test player after West Indies legend Garry Sobers (365*) and Aussie Bob Simpson (311) to convert their maiden Test century into a triple century.
West Indian Cricketer Brain Lara still holds the record of highest run scorer in Test cricket with 400(not out).
