It's not an everyday scenario where cricketers bond, especially when it comes to India Pakistan players meeting eye to eye, however, it was two former captains who met up before a heated clash. It was during practice when Shoaib Malik walked towards the Indian camp and had a chat with former Team India captain MS Dhoni.
Before the two nations face lock horns on September 19 in the group stage match, watch Shoaib having a word with Dhoni.
The two nations were earlier training in Dubai ahead of their respective clashes. Pakistan will face Hong Kong in their first match, then meet India on the 19th.
The Indian camp will compete in the tournament without their main man Virat Kohli, as he has been rested by the BCCI as there are long gruelling schedules up ahead.
Rohit Sharma will lead the Men in Blue in the Asia Cup.
Earlier, Shoaib stated that players from both the countries share cordial relations with each other and are very professional on the field.
"It is in the benefit of all if both India and Pakistan play a maximum number of matches against each other as it brings entertainment not only for the people of the two countries but also for the rest of the world. It also brings the people of India and Pakistan closer to each other," Dawn.com quoted Malik, as saying.
"The cricketers of India and Pakistan are professionals and they want to give their best on the field against each other. And off the field, they like to behave like friends and we take meals together," he added.
India will face Pakistan on September 19 in the group stage clash and are expected to meet in the super four as well.
Bangladesh will face Sri Lanka in Asia Cup's opening match which will begin from September 15.
