As South Africa fast bowler Dale Steyn turned 35 on Wednesday, former India opener Virender Sehwag didn't shy to heap praises on warhorse pacer, saying: "the grass always seemed greener whenever Steyn bowled."
Sehwag said in a tweet: "Whenever you think of the most dangerous bowlers in the world @DaleSteyn62 ka sthan sada rahega. Whenever Steyn bowled, the grass always seemed greener than what it was. Happy Birthday Steyn Gun!"
Steyn, who has played 235 international matches for South Africa, made his debut in a Test match against England at Port Elizabeth in December 2004. The Phalaborwa-born paceman has claimed 419 wickets in 86 Test matches so far.
Indian batting legend Sachin Tendulkar also wished the seasoned bowler on his birthday, saying: "A very happy birthday to you @DaleSteyn62. Wish you good health and happiness."
Steyn, who is currently trying to regain full form and fitness ahead of an international comeback, recently hogged all the limelight when he claimed a five-wicket haul for Hampshire in a county championship match against Yorkshire. (Read full story)
Having played his last Test in January 2018, facing India at Cape Town, Steyn will return to the national side for the upcoming two-match Test series against Sri Lanka, starting next month
Steyn had sustained a heel injury during the Cape Town Test against India and was then ruled out of the rest of the three-match series.
