Virat Kohli and Co. are being lauded across the world for their historic feat in Australia and the latest to join the bandwagon is the Indian cricket board, which has announced heavy cash rewards for the players, coaches and the support staff.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday announced a bonus of INR 15 lakh per match for every Indian player who featured in the playing XI for the four-match Test series.
It is worthy to mention here that the bonus of INR 15 Lakh is equivalent to the actual match-fee paid to the Test players who are part of the playing XI.
The players, who were kept in the reserve squad, will get paid INR 7.5 lakh per match.
Meanwhile, head coach Ravi Shastri and his team, which includes batting coach Sanjay Bangar and bowling coach Bharat Arun, will receive INR 25 lakh each.
The board has also said that the non-coaching support staff will be paid bonuses equivalent to their pro-rata salary or professional fee.
The rich rewards come after the Indian cricket team won its maiden Test series in Australia, ending a 71-year drought.
Virat Kohli's men defeated Australia 2-1 in the four-match Border-Gavaskar Test series to become the first Asian team to win a Test series Down Under.
