Virat 'The Run Machine' Kohli has led India to many historical wins with his exemplary batting performances but now against Australia he has some special plans to trouble the hosts.
During the ongoing practice match between India and Cricket Australia XI, players and fans witnessed the Indian skipper leading charge with the ball also. Kohli bowled two overs on the third day and gave just six runs off it.
It was a pleasant sight for the fans to see Kohli bowling after a very long time in a match. He was applauded by people on social media for his bowling and Twitterati are even ready to consider him as a backup bowler in upcoming Test series.
It is also a good sign for the Indian team as Hardik Pandya who is the only fast bowling allrounder in current team has been ruled out from the series due to his back injury. After Pandya's injury, the Asian giants are in desperate need of a player who can bat and bowl fast in bouncy Australian conditions and Kohli might be the perfect solution.
Kohli tried a hand with the ball after the bowlers seemed quite tired during the day, especially after they leaked plenty of avoidable runs. Lower order batsmen Harry Nielsen and Aaron Hardie put on a 122 partnership before the day could end.
Earlier on day 2, India didn't start well as the new ball pairing of Umesh Yadav (1-81) and Mohammed Shami (3-67) was taken for runs.
The duo wasted this opportunity and sprayed the ball around, conceding nearly at six runs per over in the first hour of play.
Proceedings came to a halt when Prithvi Shaw was injured in the 15th over, bowled by R Ashwin, as Bryant went for a six over midwicket.
The youngster put in a juggling effort at the boundary, only to take a tumble and roll over his left ankle and dropping the ball for six runs.
Shaw was carried off the field and taken to a local hospital for scans. It has been confirmed that the 19-year old has been ruled out from the first Test at Sydney Cricket Ground.
