Anil Kumble, the greatest spinner from India to play the game, left an indelible imprint on it exactly two decades ago, when he deciminated Pakistan by picking up all 10 wickets in an innings at the Feroz Shah Kotla stadium.
In the 1999 Test match, Kumble became the second bowler after England's Jim Laker to collect all ten wickets in an innings in the longest format of the game.
India had set Pakistan a fancied target of 420 runs. However, Pakistan's chances of drawing the Test match on the final day were fanned away by Kumble with his 10/74 which helped Team India win their first Test against their arch-rivals in 120 years.
Kumble was on a roll back then. Pakistan had one of the greatest batsmen including the likes of Inzamam-ul-Haq, Mohammad Yousuf, Ijaz Ahmed, Saeed Anwar. Allrounders had a young Shahid Afridi back then with the experienced Wasim Akram.
Kumble had no problem dismissing them as he collected three LBW's, two bowled-outs and five caught-outs. Pakistan were 101/0 with a century partnership for the opening wicket. Once the leg-spinner got rolling, his spells were unstoppable and unavoidable. He ripped past the batsmen and Pakistan were all out for 207.
Kumble created history and India won the match by 212 runs. In his long career, he collected 619 wickets in 132 Test matches and 337 wickets in One Day Internationals.
The leg-spinner also led India from 2007-2008 and later on coached the Men in Blue in 2016-2017.
