London: Indian batting legend and one of the greatest cricketers in the history, Sachin Tendulkar has undergone a left-knee surgery today.

Tendulkar posted a picture of his left leg, covered in a black cast, on his facebook page and commented he hopes to recover soon.

“Some injuries trouble even after retirement, but I will be back very soon doing the things I enjoy. Had a knee operation & resting,” the iconic batsman wrote.

Thousands of people reacted with shock and sympathy by liking the picture and posting comments on it.

Last month, the holy trinity of Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman picked Anil Kumble as team India's next head coach.

The post of head coach had fallen with the expiry of Duncan Fletcher's contract at the end of the ICC World Cup 2015.

Ravi Shastri had run the team as its director since the ODI series against England in August 2014. Shastri's contract ended after the 2016 World T20.
