Team India opener Rohit Sharma became the first cricketer from the country to throw the ceremonial 'first pitch' during a baseball match in the United States of America on Monday. Among all the spectators, Rohit Sharma's wife Ritika Sajdeh, who can be seen cheering for the Mumbai batsman in every match, remained the most special viewer for the right-handed batsman.

"Great fun throwing the first pitch for @Mariners with my lady by my side. @SafecoField," Rohit said on Twitter.

Rohit, who is known for his hard-hitting knocks on the cricket field, become the first Indian cricketer to throw the ceremonial 'first pitch' during a baseball match between Mariners and Tampa Bay Rays.

According to a report in Hindustan Times, Rohit will do the honours for American Major League Baseball (MLB) for Seattle Mariners at their home ground of Safeco Field on Sunday.

It is a ritual in American baseball where they invite a guest to throw out a ceremonial first pitch to mark the start of the game.

The 31-year-old is currently on a three-city US tour and will be touring the San Francisco Bay Area, Seattle and Los Angeles where he will participate in a series of cricket clinics besides meeting fans.

Rohit has been dropped by the national selectors for the one-off Afghanistan Test which is slated to commence from June 14. Currently, there has been a dip in his form since the beginning of the year starting with the tour of South Africa. His record with the red ball has been quite stagnant so far.

Even during the 11th edition of the Indian Premier League, Rohit, who leads Mumbai Indians, couldn't manage to make an impact with the bat in the tournament.
