India batting coach Sanjay Bangar was all praise for young Prithvi Shaw, who played his first innings on Australian soil and impressed straight away.
Shaw opened the batting with KL Rahul for India in the practice game against Cricket Australia XI and straight away got into the groove.
The recently turned 19-year-old punched ball off his back foot and played some crunching cover and on drives on his way to a 69-ball 66 before losing balance and getting bowled round his legs to Daniel Fallins.
The Mumbaikar smashed 11 boundaries in his innings and maintained a run-a-ball rate throughout his essay.
And Bangar feels that his clear mindset and fearlessness helps him play the aggressive brand of cricket.
"He plays with a lot of clarity and impressive about him is he gets into good positions. That clarity of mind and fearlessness of youth probably helps him quite a bit," he added.
Shaw's ability to adapt to situations and score runs was also praised by Bangar.
"In whichever format that he's played he's made a mark straight away. Be it various formats of first-class cricket in India, be it the Ranji Trophy, Duleep Trophy, Irani Trophy or India A, wherever he has played he as shown he could adapt to the conditions pretty well and to the stage as well," Bangar said.
Shaw was one of the five batsmen who scored fifties on day two of the tour game at the Sydney Cricket Ground. India rode on fifties from Shaw, Virat Kohli (64), Cheteshwar Pujara (54), Ajinkya Rahane (56) and Hanuma Vihari (53) to score 358.
The Indian bowlers bowled four overs and conceded 24 runs as D'Arcy Short (10*) and Max Bryant (14*) saw off the home side to the end of day two.
However, India will be concerned about the dramatic collapse they suffered from 347/5 to 358 all-out. With the likes of Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood waiting, the visitors will look to avoid another mishap when the first Test starts on December 6 in Adelaide.
