#PakistanKaBhootBanaya: Sehwag takes to Twitter to remind arch rivals of 254-run knock in 2006
Virender Sehwag may have bid adieu to cricket but his witty tweets continue to make headlines every other day. And this time, his target was the Pakistani cricket team.
Virender Sehwag may have bid adieu to cricket but his witty tweets continue to make headlines every other day. And this time, his target was the Pakistani cricket team.
Sehwag took to Twitter on Monday and trolled the Pakistan team, reminding them and the cricket fans about one of his best Test knocks, which came against the arch-rivals exactly 11 years ago in the year 2006.
Sehwag, who had scored 254 runs off 247 balls, uploaded a picture of that knock and tweeted, “11 years ago, had the privilege to celebrate #PakistanKaBhootBanaya Diwas!”
In January 2006, India had toured Pakistan for a three-match Test series. In the very first game played at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, Sehwag (254) and Dravid (128 not out) had completed an opening partnership of 410 runs in reply to Pakistan’s first innings score of 679.
The two, however, fell short by just three runs off the then highest opening partnership record, held by Vinoo Mankad and Pankaj Roy. The record was ultimately broken by South Africa’s opning pair of Neil McKenzie and Graeme Smith in 2008.
On Sunday, Viru also trolled the England cricket team after Virat Kohli-led Team India defeated the visitors by three wickets while chasing a mammoth target of 351 runs in the first match of the three-ODI series.
“Hahahahahaha! Dus Guna Lagaan Vasool. #INDvENG,” he had tweeted.
