Former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif is unwittingly caught in the midst of an unnecessary confusion following reports of an alleged sharpshooter being spotted alongside Bihar's gangster-turned-politician Mohammad Shahbuddin.

The coincidence is that the sharpshooter in question, considered a close aide of the Bihar strongman, is the former cricketer's namesake.

"Not every Mohammad Kaif is a cricketer," Kaif said trying to clear the air over possible perceptions of his involvement in any wrongdoing.

Trouble began for the cricketer when people started tweeting against him, triggering such a storm that Kaif had to tweet in reprisal and clarify the confusion.

“I am not the shooter u r referring to. I m training fr the Cricket season ahead wid #Chattisgarh. Verify to karlo yaar,” he tweeted.

Bunty is a suspect in the killing of scribe Rajdeo Ranjan on May 13 in Siwan and was reportedly absconding along with Mohammad Javed, another suspect.

He surrendered before a Siwan court today in connection with a case of extortion.
