MCC awards Misbah-ul-Haq honorary life membership

The last Pakistan cricketer to receive the honour was Ramiz Raja, who was awarded membership by MCC in 2015.

One of Pakistan’s most successful Test captain - Misbah-ul-Haq has been awarded Honourary Life Membership by the prestigious Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) for his services to the game.The 43-year old is known to carry the baton of Pakisan cricket in tough times and has successfully led the team despite all adversities back home.

MCC, the owner of Lord’s Ground and the "guardian of the Laws of Cricket", awards the life membership to "the finest cricketers and men and women associated with the game". Pakistan's highest run-getter in Test cricket - 

Younis Khan and Misbah are also among thes Wisden cricketers of the year.



Under Misbah's leadership, Pakistan reached the pinnacle of ICC Test Rankings for the first time after levelling a Test series against England last summer. 

Misbah was presented with the membership at the Lord's Cricket Ground during the rain-interrupted match between Afghanistan and the MCC XI earlier this week. Misbah was a member of the MCC XI, which was captained by former New Zealand skipper Brendon McCullum.

The 43-year-old Misbah is the 22nd Pakistani to receive the honour and joins the likes of Mushtaq Mohammad, Zaheer Abbas, Imran Khan, Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis and Javed Miandad.

The last Pakistani to receive the honour was Ramiz Raja, who was awarded membership in 2015. There are 18,000 Full and 5,000 Associate Members of MCC. These Members own the Ground and all MCC’s assets (the most famous of which is the Ashes Urn), govern the Club through various committees, and some 2,000 of them represent MCC on the field each year.
