New Delhi: Every Indian cricket fan remembers the right-arm fast-medium bowler Joginder Sharma who bowled the heroic last over in the final of the inaugural World T20 Championship 2007 against Pakistan. Playing only his fourth T20, he got Misbah caught out at short fine leg giving the Men in Blue a chance to hold the World Cup after 24 years. India’s historic victory propelled Sharma to a national hero.

However, Joginder’s life took a complete U-turn soon after. After playing for the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL for a couple of seasons, he chose to retire from first-class cricket last year as he was given a job with the Haryana Police, which he apparently accepted.

All this was flashback and Joginder Sharma is now a Deputy Commissioner of Police in Haryana. The short statured cricketer recently attended the wedding of his friend and Indian cricketer Mohit Sharma’s and the pictures he shared on his Facebook account clearly show that he is very happy with his job.

The right-arm medium-fast bowler has played only four ODIs and four T20Is for India. In first class cricket, Joginder has scored a total of 2,689 runs and has bagged 289 wickets.
