IPL 2019 Team of the Season: MS Dhoni leads the star XI, Rahul opens with Warner
With season ended on a high note, we witnessed a lot of nail-biting matches and players who have shown a lot of promise for years to come.
Another successfull year of Indian Premier League has concluded as Mumbai Indians beat Chennai Super Kings in one hell of a match where the Rohit Sharma led team beat the Yellow Army by just 1 run to clinch their record fourth title.
With season ended on a high note, we witnessed a lot of nail biting matches and players who have shown a lot of promise for years to come.
We noted many significant performances this year from many individuals like Andre Russell, Hardik Pandya, David Warner and some more. Here we listed out our IPL Team of the season which includes mixed players from IPL teams:
David Warner
Warner played only 12 matches this season in which he scored 692 runs for Sunrisers Hyderabad. He became the only player to receive the Orange Cap three time in the IPL history. The Aussie opener previously grabbed it in 2015 and 2017. The southpaw smashed eight half-centuries and a blistering century in his comeback season. His stats proved to be the perfect contender of opener in the Team of the season.
KL Rahul
KL Rahul got his Midas touch back in IPL 2019 as the right-handed batsman scored 592 runs in 14 matches in the season. Despite playing some slow innings, Rahul took his team to victory line many times. After a mediocre show for the Indian team in last few months, Rahul bright form in IPL will surely give Virat Kohli some hope for the upcoming ODI World Cup. The 27-year-old is the perfect opening partner for Warner in our team
Suryakumar Yadav
He might not be a big name in the cricketing world, but performances speak for himself. The Mumbai Indians' batsman was consistent run-scorer for his team and his unbeaten 71 in the Qualifier 2 against Chennai Super Kings. Like Mumbai Indians, Surya is our number 3 batsman in the team
Mahendra Singh Dhoni (C & WK)
Chennai Super Kings'skipper MS Dhoni's season was quite similar to the last as he still has the brute power to knocks maximums out of the parks. Leading his side to a record ninth IPL final in the 12th edition of the Indian Premier League, there is undoubtedly no other player who can take Dhoni's place and that's why he is the IPL Team of the Season's captain. Delivering with the bat, using his bowlers wisely and his experience as skipper is unmatched.
Andre Russell
The 31-year old Jamaican was leading the chars in the MVP list with 369 points as in 11 matches he has taken 14 wickets and taken four catches, whereas with the bat he has smashed a whopping 510 runs in 13 innings, which includes 4 fifties and has hammered 31 fours and a gobsmacking 52 sixes this season. The player with his abilities will be a perfect fit any team as a first all-rounder
Hardik Pandya
For Hardik, the IPL triumph couldn't have come at a better time as he, time and again, proved why he is called the 'game-changer' or the 'x-factor'. 402 runs at a strike-rate of 191 plus, 29 sixes, 14 wickets and 11 catches is impressive stuff for any all-rounder, statistics that India captain Virat Kohli can find solace in despite his own franchise RCB's disastrous show. Pandya makes into our team as the second all-rounder.
Deepak Chahar
The right-arm-fast bowler bowls 190 'dot balls' and beat every reputed fast bowler in the charts of most number of dot balls in the tournament. Chahar also took 22 wickets in the tournament to get in our team as the frontline bowler and under MS Dhoni guidance he has proved enough for himself.
Shreyas Gopal
20 wickets from 14 games at an economy of 7.22 would make any bowler proud and in the era of wrist-spinners, it will make people sit down and take notice. It has been a dream season for the 25-year-old and why wouldn't it be, when you have the best in the business to guide you along. Gopal is also a good lower-order batsman that's also one of the key reason why he pipped Rahul Chahar in the team.
Kagiso Rabada
The leader of Delhi's bowling line up proved his worth in IPL 2019 by picking 25 wickets in just 12 matches. Nobody can forget his fierce bowling in the super over clash against Kolkata Knight Riders; it was a high voltage clash at Feroz Shah Kotla where Delhi need to defend just 11 runs and Iyer gave the ball to his key man. Rabada gifted the win to his team by removing KKR's powerhouse Andre Russell on the third ball of the super over. Rabada presence in Team of the season will make any opposition scared a bit.
Jasprit Bumrah
Probably one of the best fast bowlers in the world alongside Rabada, Bumrah is picked in our team as the perfect death over specialist. Bumrah showed his worth in the big final against Chennai Super Kings where he gave only 14 runs in his quota of 4 overs and picked 2 crucial wickets.
Imran Tahir
Imran Tahir starred for Chennai in their campaign as they reached the final. Picking up wickets in crucial junctures and keeping it tight, Tahir was Mahendra Singh Dhoni's go-to man in IPL 2019. Tahir pipped fellow countryman Kagiso Rabada and won the 'Purple Cap' as IPL 2019 came to an end.
