Blistering knocks, enormous maximums, flamboyant and carefree, Andre Russell is 2019 Indian Premier League's Most Valuable Player this season and there is simply no denying how vital 'Dre Russ' has been for Kolkata Knight Riders. From putting on blockbuster performances to smashing match-winning knocks, it has truly been a 'Russllemania' tournament.
The 31-year old Jamaican was leading the chars in the MVP list with 369 points as in 11 matches he has taken 14 wickets and taken four catches, whereas with the bat he has smashed a whopping 510 runs in 13 innings, which includes 4 fifties and has hammered 31 fours and a gobsmacking 52 sixes this season.
27 points behind Dre Russ was Mumbai Indians', Hardik Pandya. His impressive form has got everybody talking as he has been MI's key man this tournament. Other than raking in wickets, the younger Pandya has contributed immensely with the bat this season, which includes a scintillating unbeaten 91 off 37 balls. The all-rounder helped Mumbai reach the finals as they are on a hunt for a record fourth title.
It has only been these two all-rounders in the 300 point list as securing the third spot is Chennai Super Kings' Deepak Chahar with 274.5 points, while his teammate Imran Tahir followed him the list with 255.
Despite Kolkata having an offseason, Russell's role was pivotal as he was always the last man standing for KKR when no other player could shoulder the responsibilities. Despite having his differences with KKR skipper Dinesh Karthik, Russell's performances weren't affected.
