Virat Kohli has become only the second batsman in the history of the Indian Premier League to hit 5,000 runs. The 29-year-old Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper reached the milestone in the clash against Mumbai Indians on Thursday at the M Chinnaswamy stadium in Bengaluru. (MATCH SCORECARD)

Before the match, Kohli was on 4,954 runs and needed 46 runs to go past the barrier. 

Kohli is now the second batsman after Chennai Super Kings' Suresh Raina (5,034 runs) to join the 5K club.

Rohit Sharma (4507), Gautam Gambhir (4218) and Robin Uthappa (4231) complete the top five.

Kohli is one of the most dangerous T20 batsmen in the world and forms the core of RCB's batting along with AB de Villiers.
