Star all-rounder Yuvraj Singh was bought by Mumbai Indians (MI) in the recently concluded IPL 2019 auction. After getting a new home for the Indian cricket extravaganza, Yuvi expressed his delight at being part of the MI family, through a tweet. In response, the franchise's skipper and Indian opener Rohit Sharma welcomed his new teammate to the "city of heroics".
The auction that was conducted on December 18, saw Yuvraj going unsold in the first round at his base price of INR 1 Crore. While turning out for Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) in the last season, the left-hander managed just 65 runs from eight matches - a possible reason why he was released by the franchise ahead of the auction.
But in the second round, MI bagged him at his base price while none of the other teams made a bid. The 37-year-old celebrated the occasion by tweeting: "I am glad to be part of the @mipaltan family, looking forward for the season to begin. See u soon @ImRo45".
In reply, Rohit wrote on Twitter: "Welcome to the city of heroics @YUVSTRONG12". He also tagged a video posted by the Mumbai outfit in which they are welcoming the all-rounder with a newspaper headline that says: "Yuvraj: Always the best in Blue" - referring to the jersey colour of MI.
Here is hoping that the fans get to see a rejuvenated Yuvi in the forthcoming edition of the IPL, one who used to scare the bowlers all over the world through his fierce hitting.
