Australian veteran Shane Watson is another player to defy age as the former International all-rounder slammed his third century in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in Match 17 of the 11th edition between Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals. Watson is the second player to hit a century this season as it was none other than Chris Gayle who slammed his 6th ton in Mohali against the Sunrisers Hyderabad.
The warhorse has been brilliant since he opened for CSK along with Ambati Rayudu in their first home match at the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) Stadium in Pune. To add more to the injury, Watson scored his blistering century against his former club he played for where he also won the inaugural IPL season in 2008. He also has the highest score this season, surpassing Gayle's unbeaten 104 vs SRH.
Watson completed his ton in a fashionable manner, hammering nine fours and six sixes and completed his ton in 51 balls. He took the bowling line-up apart and seemed to be enjoying every minute of the electric atmosphere in Pune.
The 36-year old has played 102 matches in the Indian Premier League where he scored 2775 runs, including three tons and has a highest on 104 with a thundering strike rate of 140.58. He has also collected 91 wickets in the Indian T20 league with a best figure of 29/4.
GAYLE-STORM BLOWS AWAY SUNRISERS HYDERABAD
After Chris Gayle scoring his 6th ton for Kings XI Punjab against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Shane Watson took the challenge to score one himself and Pune at the moment is all yellow.
