West Indies and Mumbai Indians left-handed batsman Evin Lewis became the 500th player to debut in the Indian Premier League (IPL) when he came to bat at Wankhede Stadium in the IPL 2018 opening match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Saturday. However, the 26-year-old Trinidad batsman lost his wicket for a duck.

CSK pacer Deepak Chahar trapped Lewis LBW, a duck on his IPL debut. He reviewed the on-field umpire Gaffaney's decision, who was quick to raise his finger. The review revealed that it was a fair delivery, the ball swung back in and thudded into Lewis's pads, he fell over on the flick and missed.

Mumbai Indians were invited to bat first by CSK, who are making a return to the IPL after a two-year suspension due to spot-fixing.

The teams:

CSK: Ambati Rayudu, Shane Watson, Suresh Raina, Kedar Jadhav, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Dwayne Bravo, Ravindra Jadeja, Harbhajan Singh, Deepak Chahar, Imran Tahir, Mark Wood.

MI: Ishan Kishan, Ervin Lewis, Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Kieron Pollard, Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah, Mustafizur Rahman, Mitchell McClenaghan, Mayank Markande.
