After appointing Kane Williamson as their new skipper for the upcoming edition of Indian Premier League (IPL), Sunrisers Hyderabad have now appointed Bhuvneshwar Kumar as the vice-captain. The 28-year old pacer is one of the most consistent performers for Sunrisers and has been the go-to man for the franchise in all conditions. He has the ability to bowl brilliantly at the start of the innings and has been equally impressive at the death as well.

“We are happy to announce that Bhuvneshwar Kumar will be the vice-captain of SunRisers Hyderabad for IPL 2018” – K. Shanmugam, CEO, SunRisers Hyderabad. Interestingly, Bhuvneshwar had also won the prestigious Purple Cap (most wickets in a single season) in the last two editions of the IPL - 2016 (23 wickets) and 2017 (26 wickets).

Earlier on Thursday, New Zealand skipper replaced Australia's David Warner as the captain of the 'Orange Army'. The decision comes in the wake of the recent ball-tampering controversy that led to bans for David Warner and Steven Smith from the 11th edition of IPL.

"I've accepted the role to stand in as captain for this season," Williamson was quoted as saying by SRH on Twitter. "It's an exciting opportunity with a talented group of players. I look forward to the challenges ahead."
