India fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah, who recently made his Test debut in South Africa, has his eyes firmly set on a place in the playing eleven for the first ODI, to be held in Durban on Thursday. Ahead of the clash, Bumrah expressed his happiness after he saw veteran wicketkeeper-batsman MS Dhoni back in the squad.
"The man is back! @mahi7781 Done with a good practice session," Bumrah said on Instagram, along with a photograph with Dhoni.
Dhoni played his last Test for India in 2014, in which he played Australia at Melbourne.
Bumrah impressed many with his effective bowling on South African pitches during the three-match Test series, which India lost by 2-1. He claimed 11 wickets in six innings with a five-wicket haul that helped India register a consolation win in the fifth Test at Wanderers.
India opener Shikhar Dhawan, who failed to impress much with the willow in Tests, assured an improved show in the limited-over contest.
"In Durban, looking forward to the first one day game," Dhawan tweeted.
Spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, who has made a permanent place in the limited-over squad in a short span of time, also appeared excited ahead of the first ODI.
"Look for something positive in each day, even if some days you have to look a little harder..!! #BleedBlue," Chahal said.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Indian players were seen sweating hard in a practice session in Durban. Former skipper Dhoni is back in the squad and has started his training along with the other teammates. Kedhar Jadhav, who missed the Sri Lanka series due to injury last year, was also seen in action for the ODI series. (Read full story)
