India captain Virat Kohli was on Tuesday dismissed for a duck for the first time in his Twenty20 International career. Australian fast bowler removed Jason Behrendorff removed opener Rohit Sharma (8) and Kohli (0) in the first over to rattle India's innings after Australia won the toss and opted to bowl in the second T20I in Guwahati. This is Kohli's first duck in 47 T20I innings. (MATCH SCORECARD)
Behrendorff later dismissed Manish Pandey (6) in his second over to left India reeling at 16/3 in 2.2 overs and gave Australia a perfect start as the visitors aim to level the series. Australia are trailing 1-0 in the three-match series after they lost the first T20I in Ranchi by 9 wickets (D/L method) in a rain-truncated match.
Behrendorff, who debuted in Ranchi, picked Rohit in only his fourth ball to get his maiden international wicket. The 27-year-old pacer bowled a length delivery around middle and leg which Rohit completely missed and was adjudged LBW.
Two balls later, Behrendorff caught and bowled Kohli to put India in a spot of bother. The Aussie bowler landed it on a length again and Kohli stayed in the crease and looked to flick it. However, the ball hit his pads and went up in the air and was caught by Behrendorff.
In his next over, Behrendorff scalped Pandey to rock India. Pandey paid the price for being tentative as he pushed at a delivery which landed around off and ended up nicking it to the keeper Tim Paine.
Behrendorff didn't stop there and got his fourth when he removed Shikhar Dhawan for 2. He pitched on a length around off and Dhawan looked to go downtown. However, the ball went in the hands of Warner, who backtracked from mid off and took a stunning tumbling catch to send back his Hyderabad team-mate.
Behrendorff finished off with four wickets for 21 runs and this is the best performance by an Australian bowler against India in T20Is.
