Wow! What a knock. Opener Lokesh Rahul showed fine display of batting as he scored a superb century, his fourth in short Test career and first at his home ground, on day 3 of the fifth and final Test match against England at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Sunday.

Rahul played a scintillating knock and led India (256/3) to a strong position in reply to England’s first innings score of 477 on day three.

Rahul has so far smashed nine boundaries and two sixes in his 133 (not out) runs knock.

Before this, Rahul has scored one century each in Australia, Sri Lanka and West Indies. He is playing his 12th for India and has scored over runs for India.

Interestingly, Rahul, who has already scored a century in ODIs and T20Is, reached the three figure mark in each format of the game with a six.

Earlier, resuming their innings at 60-1, India produced a solid batting performance as Rahul and Parthiv complemented each other and completed their well-deserved half-centuries to lay the foundation for a good total.

While Rahul took 96 balls to score his fifty, Parthiv achieved the feat in 84 deliveries as the duo shared a 152-run partnership for the opening wicket at the Chidambaram Stadium.

It was spinner Moeen Ali, who finally broke the stand when he had Parthiv caught by Jos Butler at cover after the wicket-keeper batsman tried to repeat a shot which had earned him a boundary earlier in the over.
