Former India captain Sourav Ganguly said all is not over for Yuvraj Singh, who was once again ignored for the upcoming limited-overs series against Australia, starting September 17. Considered one of India's best match-winners in ODI cricket, Yuvraj was also left out of the limited-overs leg of the Sri Lanka tour. Ganguly said Yuvraj has a chance of a comeback if he he fights. "Yes, yes he can make a comeback if he fights. why not, nothing is over till it's actually over," Ganguly said.

India coach Ravi Shastri, in an exclusive interview to India TV on Wednesday, said both Yuvraj and Suresh Raina can return to the team if they can prove their fitness.

Shastri said that team selection is based on three parameters - fitness, current form and fielding - and any player who passes these is eligible for selection. Shastri also laid down the importance of fielding.

"Any player is eligible for selection if they perform well on the following parameters - fitness, current form and fielding. Fielding is very important if you want to win consistently," Shastri told India TV.

The 55-year-old Shastri said he is never involved in the selection process.

"I am not involved in selection. The door is not closed on Yuvraj Singh and Suresh Raina. Any player who performs well on these parameters is eligible for selection," he said.

Meanwhile, Ganguly also hailed the team's rotation policy.

"The selectors want to assess the youngsters. It's a good move looking ahead to the World Cup 2019. We have enough time to prepare. Everyone will get a chance, that's what you need in a team building," Ganguly said.

The ODI series begins with the opening match on Chennai on September 17.
