Team India’s squad announcement for the limited overs series against England turned out to be quite eventful. While Virat Kohli’s imminent ascent to captaincy in all formats following Mahendra Singh Dhoni stepping down was a given, it was Yuvraj Singh’s comeback in India’s ODI and T20 squads that took the spotlight.
Yuvraj, who has handed over India some memorable wins, played his last ODI in December 2013. His last T20I was the World T20 match against Australia in 2016. He was later dropped from the squad due to injury.
Now, his comeback into the Indian team will cheer cricket fans, whereas some will also have a critical approach for the same. Though it was Yuvi’s hard work, dedication and the splendid performance in Ranji that brought him back in the squad, we couldn’t resist from drawing an interesting observation, without taking anything away from the left-handed batsman’s cricketing abilities.
Yuvi has been trying hard to make a comeback for years, but it only happened after he started a new innings in his life. Seems like all he needed for the breakthrough was some lady luck as the good news came just months after his marriage with actress Hazel Keech that had become a national affair of sorts.
The all-rounder has waited for long to don a blue jersey again and we couldn’t wait to see him back in action.
Also, it is always special when Yuvi and Mahi play together for India as the duo have always been in news for their on and off relationship.
