New Delhi: Former South African Test team captain Hashim Amla is all set to make his debut in the Indian Premier League as he joins Kings XI Punjab for the rest of the season after Shaun Marsh was forced out of the tournament due to injury.
Amla confirmed on Twitter that he would be joining the bottom-placed team in the IPL league table.
The 33-year-old's signing comes after Marsh failed to shake off a back injury which he reportedly picked up in a game against the Kolkata Knight Riders on April 19.
Marsh is the fourth Australian to return home early from this year's IPL, which began on April 9 and wraps up on May 29.
Skipper Steve Smith, bowler John Hastings and Marsh's brother Mitchell are the other Australian players to have gone home owing to injuries.
Amla has played 37 T20Is in which he has made 1008 runs with an average of 31.50 and a strike rate of 129.
