Harmanpreet Kaur shines in women's cricket Super League debut

Kaur held her nerve and smashed a six off the last ball of Laura Marsh that led Lancashire Thunder beat Surrey Stars.

India all-rounder Harmanpreet Kaur started her KIA Women's Cricket Super League career on a high note. The right-handed batter helped her team Lancashire Thunder to thrash Surrey Stars by five wickets. She scored 34 runs in 21 deliveries which proved to be a match-winning knock. It was a close match with 4 runs needed off the last ball when Kaur held her nerve and smashed a six off the bowling of Laura Marsh. The England and Wales Cricket Board seemed impressed with the 29-year old performance and tweeted "WHAT A WAY TO WIN! Indian star @ImHarmanpreet smashes a huge six to win it on her @LancsCricketWMN debut WHAT A WAY TO WIN!"

Lancashire Thunder were chasing an easy target of 149 runs and Australian batter Nicole Bolton set the tone by scoring 87 runs in 61 balls. She opened the innings and hit 13 magnificent boundaries. The exciting match came to the very last over with 11 runs needed in it and Kaur overshadowed the Surrey Stars.

After the crucial win, Lancashire Thunder lie third on the points table with 13 points in 4 matches while defending champions Western Storm are still leading the charts.

This innings of Kaur can open door for other Indian women cricketers in the foreign league where they can showcase their talent.
