Mumbai: Royal Challengers Bangalore’s run-machine Chris Gayle will miss the next two matches of the ongoing Indian Premier League as he flew back to Jamaica yesterday to be with his wife Natasha Berridge, who has given birth to their son.
Yesterday, Gayle posted a picture of himself in an aircraft, along with the caption, "I'm on my way, Baby" (referring to his partner).
The 36-year old Caribbean batsman will miss the next two IPL games -- against Mumbai Indians, on 20 April, and Rising Pune Supergiants, on 22 April.
Bangalore's young batsman Sarfaraz Khan confirmed the news ahead of their match against Mumbai.
“Gayle has become a father, so he has gone home to visit his family and son,” Sarfaraz said at the pre-match press conference here.
Gayle has endured a slow start in the IPL season 9, scoring 1 and 0 in the first two matches. His poor form, however, has not affected the team’s batting performance as Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers are in sublime form.
