‘Fugitive’ Vijay Mallya spotted with Sunil Gavaskar during India vs Pakistan match

The India-Pakistan Champions Trophy clash on Sunday was attended by several renowned faces. One of them was absconding businessman Vijay Mallya, who is already wanted in the country.
Mallya, who is facing cases of bank loan defaults to the tune of Rs 9,000 crore by his now-defunct Kingfisher Airlines, is currently out on bail.
Pictures shared widely on social media showed Mallya sitting in the stands wearing a white coat.
In an another photo, also shared on social media, Mallya was seen along with Indian batting legend Sunil Gavaskar.
While India TV could not independently verify the photo of Mallya with Gavaskar, but the liquor baron was wearing the same attire seen in other photos shared from the match.
Gavaskar, who appeared to be looking at something on the liquor baron's phone, and Mallya both could be seen wearing Champions Trophy lanyards – a stadium pass as well as pitch pass.
Mallya, also the former owner of IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore, fled the country in March 2016 after he was exposed as one of the 11 people named in CBI's charge sheet regarding Kingfisher Airlines's unpaid loans to IDBI Bank.
The total outstanding loan with interest now stands at Rs 9,000 crore.
61-year-old Mallya, who has been living in Britain since last year, was arrested by Scotland Yard last month on India's extradition request.
Within hours of his arrest, Mallya, who is accused of cheating and fraud, was released on bail by a London court.
The development was an outcome of the extradition request by India pursuant to orders from a Mumbai court in two different cases against the liquor baron and founder of the now-defunct Kingfisher Airlines.
