The Test series between India and England is slowly becoming a nightmare for the Indian team and the coaching management. After losing the first Test at Edgbaston, the Indian team was completely destroyed by the hosts at the iconic Lord's. India registered their worst defeat under Captain Kohli as they were outplayed by England in every department
India lost the match by an innings and 159 runs that marks the first innings loss for Kohli as a captain. After losing the first Test, people had a strong feeling about India's chances at Lord's and they were expecting the action replay of 2014 Lord's Test where India were victorious against the hosts.
After the big loss, many questions were raised against Indian batsmen as they don't even gave a fight in the second Test and knelt down in front of the English pacers. In both Tests the batsmen disappointed everyone except in the first Test Kohli was a standout performer but at Lord's, the run machine Kohli lacked the fuel to put India in a fighting position.
Indian fans were fuming on Indian coach Ravi Shastri after successive defeats on English soil. Fans took Twitter to show their anger against the Indian coach and restarted the old fire between Shastri and former coach Anil Kumble. People started comparing the two and their coaching tactics. Some fans trolled Shastri for not taking any decision in the Indian dressing room.
Shastri took over the coaching responsibility from Kumble in July 2017 when the veteran spinner gave his resignation following the India defeat to Pakistan in the Champions Trophy final. According to reports, there were also some news of a rift between Kumble and Kohli then. After Shastri became the coach, the team has performed exceedingly well in limited overs cricket both home and away. While the story is a little different in Tests, the Indian side have been the stronger side when they play on sub-continental pitches but in away conditions, the Indian batsmen have not performed up to the expectations except skipper Kohli.
India will look to bounce back in the third Test at Trent Bridge on 18th August to keep their hopes intact in the Test series.
