KL Rahul remains a key factor for India as the side prepares for the World Cup. Even when the batsman hasn’t been a regular feature in the 50-over format, Rahul’s class and great form will be crucial to the side.

There has been a significant debate over the number 4 spot in the Indian batting order, and Rahul has made a strong case for the spot in the recently-concluded Indian Premier League.

Rahul will be complimenting skipper Virat Kohli in the batting order, who has been the backbone of India’s line-up with the bat.

Kohli carries great hopes as he leads the side to his first-ever World Cup as captain.

In an exclusive interview with India TV, KL Rahul spoke about the skipper, stating that he’s “one of the best” in the world, adding that he serves as an inspiration.

“It's needless to say that he is currently one of the best batsman in the world,” Rahul told India TV.

“Since playing international cricket, he has continued his form and every time he steps on to the field he tries to deliver even a better performance and all of us learn from him.

“The passion that he puts up every performance inspires us. He backs the youngsters who are dedicated and fearless, It's one of big reasons by India has been consistent.”

The batsman further added that Kohli has played a major role in forming team India’s aggressive identity

“The Indian team is known for aggression simply because of our captain and he wants us to show the same,” said Rahul.

The World Cup would be Virat Kohli’s second ICC tournament as the captain of the side. India will play their first game of the showpiece event against South Africa on June 5.
