Exclusive | 4th Test is a do or die match for Team India: Virender Sehwag to IndiaTV

Sehwag feels that the Virat Kohli led Indian cricket team and will have to up their game as the former explosive batsman is sure about England coming back stronger in the 4th Test.

Former Team India opener and IndiaTV's expert cricket analyst, Virender Sehwag, believes that the 4th Test at Southampton is a 'do or die' match for the Virat Kohli led Indian cricket team and will have to up their game as the explosive batsman is sure about England coming back stronger.

"India will have to win the 4th Test if they want to clinch the series. It will be a do or die clash for them. If they fail to win, hopes of winning the series will surely end and at the most they can draw the series," Sehwag to IndiaTV.

"Nothing is impossible, if India play the same way like they did at Trent Birdge with their batting and bowling, they can make an impact, but it would be very difficult, not impossible. India would have to play some very good cricket because like the way India made a comeback after two losses, England will do the same," said Sehwag on India's chances of winning the Test series.

With the 203 run victory at Trent Bridge, Kohli reclaimed the top spot in the latest ICC Test Rankings after his brilliant show in the third Test against England. The Indian captain scored 97 and 103 in the third Test at Nottingham, which India won by 203 runs.

On being asked on Kohli claiming the top Test spot once again, here's what Sehwag had to say - "It's a huge achievement for Virat, but I don't think rankings would make a difference for him, because I think that his goal would be bigger, something like reaching Tendulkar's 100 centuries and leading India to victories," said the former opener.

The skipper first earned the pole position after his 149 and 51 in the first Test at Birmingham. However, he dropped to second place after India's defeat at the Lord's but a stupendous performance has again put him at the top.

Kohli now has 937 points, which is the 11th best ever in terms of rating points.

The top 10 in the list are Don Bradman (961 points), Steven Smith (947), Len Hutton (945), Jack Hobbs (942), Ricky Ponting (942), Peter May (941), Gary Sobers, Clyde Walcott, Vivian Richards and Sangakkara (all 938 points.

India will now shift their focus on the 4th Test at Southampton and will hope to continue their form after a dominant show at Trent Bridge.
