Jonny Bairstow and Alex Hales scored impressive centuries as England scripted history in the third ODI against Australia, scoring 481/6 in their allotted 50 overs at the Trent Bridge, Nottingham, on Tuesday.
Leading the five-match ODI series 2-0, England made a brisk start in the third ODI. Openers Jason Roy and Bairstow scored 82 and 139 runs respectively and established a 159-run partnership stand to give England a flying start in Nottingham.
Roy struck seven boundaries and four sixes, while Bairstow delighted with 15 boundaries and five sixes in his 92-ball knock.
Hales took the charge soon after the dismissal of Roy and made 147 runs off 92 balls, which were decorated by 16 boundaries and five sixes.
With the mammoth total today, England surpassed their own highest ODI total of 444/3 that they scored against Pakistan at the same venue on 30 Aug 2016.
